The Office PAW Panel
The figure illustrates the components of the CommonLook Office PAW panel. The PAW panel is displayed, by default, to the right of the MS Word window when you save the Word document as a NetCentric PDF.
When you launch CommonLook Office it automatically opens the PAW Active Checkpoint tab for the first checkpoint that is applicable to your document. Typically you would simply click on the Next task until all checks are completed and a PDF document is generated as described in the overview.
The CommonLook Office PAW Panel contains the following tabs:
- Checkpoints Tab: This tab lists all the checkpoints supported by your version of CommonLook Office. The checkpoints are classified in categories (e.g. Section 508 and Additional Checkpoints).Bolded checkpoints are those applicable to the current Word document. Click on a checkpoint to select it. Once a checkpoint is selected, you can click on the Active Checkpoint tab to run it, or on the Preferences Tab to view and set the preferences pertaining to it.
- Active Checkpoint Tab: This tab contains the work area for the current checkpoint.
- Preference Tab: This tab lists the preferences pertaining to the selected checkpoint or category of checkpoints.
- Instructions Area: This is where you can find instructions on what you need to meet the requirements of the checkpoint. Click on the More link to get detailed information on the checkpoint.
- Work Area: This is where you work on the checkpoint. The type of work to be performed depends on the checkpoint. Within the Work Area, click on the Preferences tab to view and modify the checkpoint preferences.
- Task Buttons: Click on the next/previous button to run the next/previous task within the current checkpoint (or the next/previous applicable checkpoint if the current task is the last/first task within the current checkpoint.)
- Next Applicable Checkpoint Buttons: Click on the next/previous button to run the next/previous applicable checkpoint for the current document. This will skip any remaining tasks in the current checkpoint.
- Generate PDF Button: Clicking on this button will cause CommonLook Office to generate the PDF documents without running the checkpoints.
- Checkpoints List: You can activate a particular checkpoint by clicking on it.
