0101: Introduction to Accessibility in MS Word

Audience
This course is intended for Microsoft Word users who want to create accessible or Section 508 compliant documents in Word. No prior knowledge of accessibility or Section 508 is required.
Description
The instructor will provide an overview of common MS Word accessibility-related issues, guidelines and best practices aimed at creating more accessible documents. The course includes a hands-on portion where trainees will apply best practices to make a number of Word files accessible. The instructor will also provide an overview of CommonLook Office for MS Word.
The accessibility guidelines and best practices course will cover the following topics.
- Section 508 Overview
- Key Accessibility Concepts for MS Word
- Data and Presentation Tables
- List items
- Multi-column documents
- Figures, Flow and Organizational Charts
- Text Boxes
